The Story of Pahrump Life
Pahrump Life was founded by Ron and Marion Frazier. The Fraziers moved to Pahrump and opened Frazier Furniture on Calvada Boulevard in 1995. As the economic downturn that began in 2008 took its toll, the furniture business alone was no longer enough to support them. Looking for a way to support both their business and their community, they launched Pahrump Life Magazine ~2010.
The Fraizer’s quickly found success by highlighting the people, businesses, organizations, and events that make Pahrump… Pahrump. Through the support of local advertisers, Pahrump Life became both a valuable community resource and a viable business. More importantly, it fulfilled Ron and Marion’s vision of sharing the positive side of life in Pahrump.
Ron and Marion continued publishing the magazine together until Ron’s passing in 2022. Reflecting on why they started the publication, Marion said, “We started Pahrump Life magazine because everything was so negative. We just wanted to give the town something positive about Pahrump.”
During this difficult time, Jim and Christine Butler, longtime contributors who had helped with writing and photography for the magazine, stepped in to assist with publishing while Marion grieved. Sadly, Marion passed away not long afterward, and Jim and Christine assumed the roles of owners and publishers of Pahrump Life.
Under their ownership, the magazine continued to celebrate the people and stories that define the Pahrump. They preserved the spirit that Ron and Marion had established, bringing Pahrump together and reminding readers that Pahrump is far more than just a quick stop on the way to Las Vegas.
After years of faithfully serving the community, Jim and Christine decided it was time to retire. They chose to pass the magazine to Dr. Christopher Salute, Director of Great Basin College’s and editorial contributor to Pahrump Life.
Today, under its new leadership, Pahrump Life proudly continues the legacy established by Ron and Marion Frazier and carried forward by Jim and Christine Butler. The magazine remains dedicated to showcasing local businesses, organizations, events, and the everyday people who make Pahrump a special place to call home. Pahrump Life will continue to be a publication where the community can be seen, celebrated, and connected for generations to come.
